Other Events

In addition to our field days, a variety of other exciting events take place throughout the year at the Forest Resources AgResearch and Education Center. Many of these occur in conjunction with our UT Arboretum.

The University of Tennessee Arboretum Society’s 9th Annual Butterfly Festival will be held on Saturday, September 28th, 2024.

The UT Arboretum Society Butterfly Festival is a cooperative educational endeavor to provide opportunities for the public to learn from the UT Insect Zoo, two butterfly tents, lectures, and children’s art activities explaining ways we can protect our pollinators.

Please note: There is no mass butterfly release at this year’s festival.

We are happy to offer our Third Saturday Hike! Meet at the kiosk by the UT Arboretum Visitors Center and volunteers from the UT Arboretum Society will lead you on a hike on one of our trails. We aim for this hike to be suitable for everyone but this can vary upon your fitness level. Our trails are rocky with some exposed roots.

Please wear closed toed comfortable walking shoes and remember a water bottle. No pets please – we cannot have pets on site due to research projects. This is a free event. There is no need to register. Portable restrooms are available in the parking lot.

Stay tuned for more information!
