The National Forensic Academy, with headquarters at the Knoxville campus of the University of Tennessee, uses UT Arboretum facilities as an outdoor classroom for some aspects of crime scene investigation training. The Academy conducts training sessions three times a year for a select group of law enforcement agency employees. Recently, students participated in a crime scenario involving a "body" dropped from a helicopter at the Arboretum.
Bureau of Justice Assistance officials visit a recent National Forensic Academy training session at the UT Arboretum. The Bureau is one of the co-sponsors of the Academy program.
